Ida Laura Pfeiffer
Ида Лаура Пфейффер, также Пфайффер (австр. Ida Laura Pfeiffer, 14 октября 1797, Вена — 27 октября 1858, Вена) — австрийская путешественница, одна из первых женщин-путешественниц.
Она дважды самостоятельно обогнула весь мир (т. е. совершила кругосветное путешествие) в 1840-х и 1850-х годах[2]. Во время своих путешествий Пфейффер прошла более 240 000 км по морю и около 32 000 км по суше, проникнув в страны, ранее ещё не посещавшиеся европейцами.
Являлась членом Географических обществ Берлина и Парижа — и не была принята в члены Королевского географического общества в Лондоне потому, что туда не принимались женщины. Её книги переводились на семь языков.
Ida Laura Pfeiffer was born in Vienna on 14 October 1797 to a wealthy textile manufacturer named Aloys Reyer. She had five brothers and a younger sister.[2] As a child, she preferred boys' clothing, liked sports and exercise, and received the same education as her brothers under the encouragement of her father. "I was not shy," she wrote in her autobiography, "but wild as a boy, and bolder and more forward than my elder brothers."[3] Her first long journey was a trip to Palestine and Egypt when she was five years old. The influence of this experience remained with her. Following the death of her father in 1806, her mother Anna, disapproving of her previously unconventional upbringing, insisted that she wear dresses and take up piano lessons.
